On September 23, Guo Wenqing, General Manager of China Minmetals and Chairman of MCC, led a delegation to Seoul, Korea and met with Wu Guixi , Vice President of Pohang Iron and Steel Co. Ltd. (POSCO). The two sides had extensive and in-depth exchanges on further cooperation in metal mining, trade logistics, new energy material and other fields.
Guo Wenqing expressed his gratitude for the warm reception of POSCO, and introduced the development of the two Fortune Global 500 enterprises - China Minmetals and MCC after their strategic restructuring. Guo Wenqing pointed out that China Minmetals and POSCO have maintained a good and stable partnership for a long time, especially in metal raw materials trade, metallurgical engineering and other traditional fields, and have established a solid foundation of mutual trust and mutual benefit. As a pioneer and builder of China's metallurgical industry, MCC occupies over 90% of the domestic market in metallurgical engineering and over 60% of the international market. It maintains a good partnership with multiple large iron and steel enterprises all over the world. POSCO is one of the world's largest steel manufacturing enterprises, and has strong industrial strength and good scientific and integrated management experience. The two sides can learn from each other and achieve mutual benefit and win-win results. They are actively expanding multi-level cooperation in steel and other fields, and promoting the construction of long-term strategic partnership.
Guo Wenqing stressed that with the profound changes of the steel industry and the rapid development of new energy materials, POSCO has made a rapid development in new energy materials. China Minmetals has also taken new energy materials as one of its main business, and is also devoting itself to the business development of new energy resources including strategic metals such as nickel, cobalt and graphite. In terms of trade logistics, Caofeidian 100-million-tons International Ore Trading Center built by China Minmetals will provide stronger support for the development of ore trade. The two parties can establish a regular exchange mechanism to carefully manage cooperation projects, actively promote communication and exchange on raw materials trade, battery anode materials and new materials, and boost their effective cooperation in multiple business fields.
Wu Guixi appreciated the achievements made by China Minmetals in recent years. He agreed with the strategic cooperation concept proposed by Guo Wenqing, and highlighted the new energy projects being carried out by POSCO. He said POSCO held an open and positive attitude in the cooperation with China Minmetals. He believed that this talk would further enhance mutual trust and understanding. He hoped that the two sides would realize effective cooperation in new energy materials, iron ore trade and mining resources exploitation in the future, and that they can establish a regular exchange mechanism to consolidate their cooperation foundation, expand the business scope, and jointly promote the construction of the comprehensive strategic partnership.
The two sides also discuss extensively the issues of innovation and cooperation of common concern to them.
